UK-Based Experienced online Biology Tutor and head of science department offer tutoring for GCSE, A-level and IB.
Hello! I am an experienced Head of Department and Online Tutor based in the UK, specializing in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at GCSE, and Biology and Physics at A-level. I have a wealth of teaching and exam resources and a solid track record of improving student results. I also tutor General Science and Mathematics at KS3. After completing A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics (all grade A), I began my B.Sc in Biology at the Queen’s University of Belfast, graduating with First-Class Honors. Prior to teaching, I worked in food disease research and then the food retail sector, in both product quality and safety as well as procurement. After some years, I changed career into teaching, completing my PGCE in Physics at King’s College London. In my first teaching post, in a large mixed secondary school outside London, I was immediately given responsibility to develop new schemes of work for Physics at both GCSE and A-level for the new exam syllabi. Despite my lack of teaching experience at the time, my passion for Physics, inspiring student learning, use of real-life application, and focus on exam technique showed I was the right person for the job. My dedication to raising the profile and attainment of Physics, not only in my own lessons but in the wider department, resulted in my official promotion to Head of Physics. In this capacity, I continued to drive progress throughout the department through the sharing of best practices with non-specialist teachers and the department as a whole. In addition to improving academic progress each year, I developed the school’s STEM opportunities through extracurricular Crest awards and organized a residential trip to CERN in Geneva, where students had the opportunity to see one of the particle accelerators up close. My success in inspiring students and colleagues alike and continued improvement in student academic progress saw me promoted to Head of Science the following year. I am also an examiner for a UK exam board.

Reach your full potential. Start aiming higher.
Over the last twenty years, I have gained significant classroom and management experience at several State, Grammar, and Independent Schools. Although I have been out of the classroom environment recently, I continue to keep up to date with Education Policy and support students away from the school environment via home tutoring. I am an experienced teacher with a passion for my subject and a great desire that all pupils across the ability range are inspired by Science. There is no greater job satisfaction for me than when that inspiration leads to students excelling in examinations or pursuing a career in medicine. As Head of Biology at Kingston Grammar School, I managed a team of four experienced teachers, as well as being actively involved in the overall management of the Science department. I was successful in improving both A-Level and GCSE results year-on-year. I was responsible for coordinating Community Service placements for students in the wider community. I also worked closely with Brunel University with their PGCE program and was part of a team inspected by OFSTED where I was awarded 'outstanding' in my mentoring work with PGCE students at Kingston Grammar. While my teaching specialism is Biology, I have also taught Chemistry and Physics at Key Stages Three, Four, and A Level. I have a broad knowledge of the science curriculum and how it fits into schools' academic policies and wider educational policies. Additionally, I have a good understanding of the International Baccalaureate programs and Vocational courses. I have written schemes of work and working policies for a department, as well as full risk assessments for practical work. Furthermore, I have experience with admitting new students to a school, whether it be a state school or an 11+ or Common Entrance at 13+. I have administered 11+ and 13+ examinations, as well as being part of a team of interviewers assessing a student's suitability for the school.

Passionate Biology Tutor , learn from a Doctor with a love for Teaching
Hello everyone, I hope you are cherishing your journey of learning. Life itself is a continuous process of learning from cradle to the grave. I have been teaching Biology and Chemistry at GCSE and A Level for more than 7 years now. Students who can grasp key concepts and form mind maps for each topic can answer any questions the examiners throw at them. The same concepts are tested year after year. I have been teaching online for a while now and find it easier to connect with students in the comfort of their home. I spend at least 1hr and 15 minutes for a session but only charge an hourly rate. I like to finish a session with exam questions on the topic in order to solidify core concepts covered in the lesson. I am available between lessons to answer any questions via whatsapp free of charge. I look forward to helping you achieve your goals. Take care and best wishes for your future.
