Hello parents and my future students! This is Mr Captain. I specialize in teaching Mathematics and Science for both standardized exams and subject tests at school. I attended an American International School in Thailand from kindergarten to grade 12 and later obtained an Engineering Degree from an International program at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. Currently, I am an International School Teacher in Middle School Maths (Grades 6-8) and have been teaching since 2019. I also had the opportunity to teach at many private tutoring centers (mainly for International School students) and at an International School in Bangkok in the High School Department. This makes me very familiar with the programs provided at different schools (IGCSE, IB, AP, etc.) and the standardized exams that students are required to take (MAP test, IGCSE, A-levels, GED, SAT). Having only studied in International programs throughout my academic years, I am a native English speaker with an IELTS Speaking score of 8.5/9. Hi, I am Cyrus. I obtained a Master of Science from the University of California, Berkeley (Ranked #8 in World University Ranking, 2025) and a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University. I am a Math tutor for public exams, including the IGCSE, IB, GCE A Level, and US college/graduate school entrance exams, including the Quant section of SSAT, SAT, GRE, and GMAT. I have over 15 years of teaching experience in math subjects in various schools and universities, and I have a teaching profession certificate. Students are welcome to bring outside questions to this class. I will break down the problems step-by-step, give them strategies to tackle complex problems, and encourage independent exercise. I will not allow the attitude of "just give me the answer" as I believe that will harm the student in the long run and they will not have truly learned the concept. I have been tutoring for the past 20 years, specializing in mathematics and science due to my background in civil engineering and economics.
