UK-based experienced online Science tutor and Head of Science Department offers tutoring for KS3, GCSE, and A-level levels.
Hello! I am an experienced Head of Department and Online Tutor based in the UK, specializing in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at GCSE, Biology and Physics at A-level. I have a wealth of teaching and exam resources, as well as a solid track record of improving student results. I also tutor General Science and Mathematics at KS3. After completing A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics (all grade A), I began my B.Sc in Biology at Queen’s University of Belfast, graduating with First Class Honors. Prior to teaching, I worked in food disease research and then the food retail sector, focusing on product quality and safety, as well as procurement. After several years, I changed careers and pursued teaching, completing my PGCE in Physics at King’s College London. In my first teaching post, at a large mixed secondary school outside London, I was immediately given responsibility to develop new schemes of work for Physics at both GCSE and A-level, based on the new exam syllabi. Despite my lack of teaching experience at the time, my passion for Physics, inspiring student learning, use of real-life application, and focus on exam technique showed that I was the right person for the job. My dedication to raising the profile and attainment of Physics, not only in my own lessons but in the wider department, resulted in my official promotion to Head of Physics. In this capacity, I continued to drive progress throughout the department by sharing best practices with non-specialist teachers and the department as a whole. In addition to improving academic progress each year, I developed the school’s STEM opportunities by organizing extracurricular Crest awards and arranging a residential trip to CERN in Geneva, where students had the chance to see one of the particle accelerators up close. My success in inspiring students and colleagues alike, as well as my continued improvement in student academic progress, led to my promotion to Head of Science the following year. I am also an examiner for a UK exam board.

Experianced and qualified Science Tutor
I’m Alexandra, a masters graduate and qualified teacher. I provide tutoring services covering GCSE and A-Level Chemistry and Biology, and have eight years' experience of doing so. My tutoring style pushes students with a focus on moving outside of their comfort zone to have the greatest possible impact. I'm keen on setting weekly homework and push students to achieve the best grade they are capable of. I prefer to keep in regular contact with parents/carers and provide a written summary of each session to keep parents/carers informed of students' progress and note any concerns or praise I may have. My students receive an online tracker. Students use this tracker to log all work they do outside of lessons and tuition, which I check each night. Every 2 days parents also receive a phone to discuss the students progress both with workload and to discuss any concerns which may have arisen as a result of checking the student tracker. Students and parents will also be invited to join Google Classroom. An online platform I use to set work for students to complete between sessions. Parents also have access to this platform if they wish to view the work being set for students after each session. I am happy to travel to students or meet students in a public location. I am also more than happy for parents/carers to attend sessions with students if they wish to and would encourage them to do so. If you require any more information please do not hesitate to get in touch by phone or email. Students are not charged for my time travelling, or for work I do for students outside of sessions. Homework is also marked outside of sessions. More info: My undergraduate degree is in Biology with a large amount of my work being chemistry based. My masters degree is also Biology with a focus on cellular and molecular Biology with organic chemistry. During my resear
