Passionate, creative, and caring educator looking to be at the forefront of education.
Thank you for visiting my profile. I’m a Primary Special Needs Educator with 3 years of experience working in mainstream schools. I have worked across all key stages and with a variety of needs including autism (including Pathological Demand Avoidance), ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and global development delay. I can work on curriculum subjects as well as fine motor skills, social skills, and memory. My students and I have had many significant successes, the most significant being when I helped a child become a fluent reader after only reading CVC words. Other successes include improvements in times tables, number ability, comprehension, and spelling skills. Above all the academic successes my students and I have had, I am well-liked by my students and they are always happy.
I have worked across all key stages in a variety of schools and in some cases in two different key stages at the same time, providing support, teaching on a 1-to-1 basis, in group settings, and occasionally with whole classes. I have worked with children with a variety of needs including global developmental delay, Autism Spectrum, ADHD, Dyspraxia, and Dyslexia, but I am particularly passionate about working with students who have special needs and challenging behavior. I have been praised by my mentors and Vice Principal for my work in this area.
In my current post, I have gained experience using PIVATs 5 and Klips through discussion and offering my input for planning lessons independently. During this time, I have also developed my ability to teach phonics and deliver phonics interventions, working with multiple phase groups at once using various resources such as Letters and Sounds and Read Write Inc. I have also developed my knowledge in various teaching methods such as modeling, touch counting, and Kagan strategies.
I am a friendly educator with a passion for making a difference, and I look forward to working with you.
