I am the Head of House and have 8 years of teaching experience within the Physics department of a top Independent Sixth Form College in Manchester. My experience includes teaching lower years, GCSE, A-level, and the Extended project qualification (EPQ) (key stage 3-5). I have consistently delivered high-level teaching to a range of students. Some of these students have gone on to study at Russell Group universities including Oxbridge. I have recently completed a PGCE, which has provided myself with the opportunity to teach groups of various ages and backgrounds, in the field of Business. By working with students of different ability levels, my teaching toolkit has focused on stretching and challenging high achieving students as well as segmenting tasks into smaller, achievable chunks to those who require more time. I have over 10 years’ experience working with children or young adults within an educational setting. Currently, I am working as a Level 3 Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, where I am responsible for the planning, preparing and delivering of specialised Language/Literacy, Mathematics, Science and Study Skills learning programmes for small groups of pupils. Being a mother of two school-aged children allows me to collaborate with and relate to children and parents alike. I’m Alexandra, a masters graduate and qualified teacher. I provide tutoring services covering GCSE and A-Level Chemistry and Biology, and have eight years' experience of doing so. My tutoring style pushes students with a focus on moving outside of their comfort zone to have the greatest possible impact. I'm keen on setting weekly homework and push students to achieve the best grade they are capable of. I prefer to keep in regular contact with parents/carers and provide a written summary of each session to keep parents/carers informed of students' progress and note any concerns or praise I may have. My students receive an online tracker. Students use this tracker to log all work they do outside of lessons and tuition, which I check each night. Every 2 days parents also receive a phone to discuss the students progress both with workload and to discuss any concerns which may have arisen as a result of checking the student tracker. Students and parents will also be invited to join Google Classroom. An online platform I use to set work for students to complete between sessions. Parents also have access to this platform if they wish to view the work being set for students after each session. I am happy to travel to students or meet students in a public location. I am also more than happy for parents/carers to attend sessions with students if they wish to and would encourage them to do so.
